Yes, Walmart sells beef tallow. As of September 2026, walmart.com lists Fatworks Beef Tallow (14 oz jar, plus 2-packs and 3-packs), EPIC Beef Tallow (11 oz), and South Chicago Packing Wagyu Beef Tallow in an 11.5 oz jar, a 42 oz tub, and a 7 fl oz spray, along with smaller brands such as Real Good Foods, Butcher Boy, American Tallow, and Carrington Farms. Stock varies by store, and many walmart.com listings are shipped by third-party sellers, so check the store availability filter before you drive over.

Beef Tallow Walmart Lists: Brands and Sizes

These products had live pages on walmart.com when this guide was written. “Listed” means the product appears on Walmart’s site as of September 2026. It does not mean your local store has it on the shelf.

What stands out about Walmart’s lineup:

  • It carries the two brands most people search for. Fatworks and South Chicago Packing are the best-known grocery tallows in the US, and Walmart lists both. Our Fatworks beef tallow review and South Chicago Packing wagyu tallow review cover how each cooks.
  • It has a frying-size option. The SCP 42 oz tub is one of the few tallow containers large enough for a Dutch-oven fry that you can find at a mass retailer.
  • It has the widest price spread. Butcher Boy’s 7.25 oz jar sits at the low end; grass-fed and wagyu jars sit higher. The difference is mostly sourcing (conventional, grass-fed, or wagyu) and jar size.

In-Store vs. walmart.com Marketplace Listings

Walmart’s website mixes products Walmart sells itself with listings from outside sellers on Walmart Marketplace. With tallow, that distinction matters.

  • “Sold and shipped by Walmart” items are the ones most likely to appear on store shelves and qualify for store pickup.
  • Marketplace items ship from another company. Multi-packs, bundle listings, and some wagyu tallows fall into this group. They can be priced above the single-jar price, and they will not be in your local store.
  • Pickup and delivery filters. On an item page, set your store and look for “Pickup” or “In stock at [store]”. If only “Shipping” is offered, the store probably does not carry it.

In the store, tallow usually sits in the cooking oil aisle near shortening, lard, and ghee. The SCP spray, when stocked, is shelved with cooking sprays. Some Walmart Supercenters also stock lard and shortening in the baking aisle, so check there if the oil aisle comes up empty.

What to Check on the Label

Walmart’s range runs from conventional beef fat to grass-fed and wagyu, so the label tells you more than the price does.

Ingredients. A good cooking tallow lists one ingredient: beef tallow. Check blended products and sprays for added oils or propellants.

Source of the fat. “Beef tallow” with no qualifier usually means conventional, grain-finished cattle. That is fine for frying and makes whiter, milder tallow. “Grass-fed” or “100% grass-fed and finished” fat is usually more yellow and costs more. Our explainer on grass-fed vs. grain-fed tallow explains what changes.

Wagyu. US wagyu tallow comes from American Wagyu, typically a cross with Angus. The fat is higher in monounsaturated fat, which makes it softer at room temperature and richer in flavor. It is worth paying for when searing or finishing; for deep frying, conventional or grass-fed tallow does the job for less.

Deodorized or not. Most jarred cooking tallow is not labeled as deodorized and has a light beef smell. That is expected. Rancid tallow smells sharp or like old crayons; see how to tell if tallow smells wrong.

Container. Glass jars are easy to store and scoop from if the mouth is wide. Tubs are better for frying because you can scoop large amounts.

Organic. None of the tallows above were listed as USDA Organic on walmart.com in September 2026. For certified organic tallow, Fatworks Organic Grass-Fed Beef Tallow is sold online; our organic beef tallow roundup covers the rest.

Check current price on each; tallow pricing moves around, and multi-packs are not always cheaper per ounce than single jars.

Who should buy at Walmart

  • You want Fatworks or SCP today and your store shows them in stock.
  • You want a small jar for searing, eggs, and roasting.
  • You are adding tallow to a pickup or delivery order you are already placing.

Who should buy online

  • You fry often and need tubs or pails.
  • Your store only shows shipping from a marketplace seller.
  • You want organic, a specific wagyu brand, or a bulk size.

If you are also near a Whole Foods, our guide to beef tallow at Whole Foods covers its lineup (EPIC, Kettle & Fire, and the SCP spray). For butchers, ranches, and farmers markets, the beef tallow near me guide goes state by state, and the best beef tallow for cooking roundup ranks the brands.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Walmart sell beef tallow?

Yes. As of September 2026, walmart.com lists Fatworks, EPIC, South Chicago Packing, Real Good Foods, Butcher Boy, American Tallow, and Carrington Farms tallow. In-store stock varies, so set your store on walmart.com or in the app to see what is available for pickup.

What aisle is beef tallow in at Walmart?

Usually the cooking oil aisle, near shortening, lard, and ghee. Tallow sprays go with cooking sprays.

Does Walmart carry Fatworks beef tallow?

Yes. Walmart lists the Fatworks 14 oz jar and multi-pack listings. Check whether the listing is sold by Walmart (store pickup possible) or by a marketplace seller (ship only).

Is Walmart’s South Chicago Packing tallow the same as on Amazon?

The product names and sizes match: the 11.5 oz jar, 42 oz tub, and 7 fl oz spray. Compare current price and seller on both before buying.

Is the cheapest Walmart tallow good for frying?

Conventional tallow fries well. It has the same high share of saturated and monounsaturated fat that makes tallow stable under heat. Grass-fed or wagyu tallow changes flavor and color more than frying performance. Our smoke point guide covers the temperatures.

Can I use SNAP/EBT for tallow at Walmart?

Tallow is a food item, so it generally qualifies where SNAP applies. Confirm at checkout, as eligibility depends on the specific item and seller online.
